Time, made tangible
Dial Support
Need help with Dial on iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch? Start here.
Setting the timer
- Below one minute, turn and release the dial to select any whole second.
- At one minute and above, the dial settles on :00 or :30.
- Tap Start to begin, Pause to hold, and Reset to clear the timer.
- Choose a material theme using the five swatches at the bottom.
Dial Pro
Timers up to and including 5:00 are free. Timers longer than five minutes require Dial Pro. Dial Pro is a one-time in-app purchase, not a subscription.
To restore Dial Pro:
- Open the Dial Pro purchase screen.
- Tap Restore.
- Make sure the device is signed in to the Apple Account used for the original purchase.
If access remains locked, confirm that the purchase completed, connect to the internet, tap Restore again, and reopen Dial.
Apple handles billing and refund requests through Report a Problem.
Sound and haptics
Use the controls at the top of Dial to turn sound and haptics on or off independently. Connect compatible headphones for the full spatial ASMR soundstage. Haptic intensity depends on the iPhone model and system settings.
Apple Watch
- Open Dial on Apple Watch and turn the Digital Crown to select a duration.
- Use the on-screen controls to start, pause, repeat, or reset.
- Tap the material swatch to move through all five themes.
- Add a Dial complication to a compatible watch face to follow the current timer.
When a paired iPhone is reachable, Dial exchanges the newest timer state between the two devices. If a change does not appear immediately, open Dial on both devices and allow a moment for WatchConnectivity to reconnect.
Widgets
Add Dial from the widget gallery on iPhone or iPad. Home Screen widgets show the live countdown and offer free 30-second, 1-minute, 3-minute, and 5-minute quick starts when idle. Lock Screen widgets provide compact timer status. Tapping a quick start opens Dial and begins the selected preset.
Notifications
Dial can deliver a quiet local notification when a background timer finishes. Notifications must be allowed in system Settings on the device running the timer. When Dial's sound is off, the iPhone or iPad completion notification is scheduled without sound. Apple Watch uses its native quiet completion alert.
